A Few Things You Probably Don’t Know About Mistress Sin

You may know what I do now. You may even know how my journey into the world of Dominance began.

But there are quite a few chapters that came before Mistress Sin of London, and some of them are probably not what you’d expect.

So, here are a few things you probably don’t know about me.

London is home, but it hasn’t always been the backdrop to my life

I was born and raised in South London, and my heart and home is, and always will be, South London. No matter where I go, this is home.

Over the years, though, I’ve lived in America, Greece and Africa, as well as the UK.

I spent part of my childhood in the USA, from the age of nine until my early teens. I went to school on one of those yellow school buses you see in the movies, had adventures and experienced being “the new girl” at new schools far too many times.

I think living in different countries changes you. You meet completely different kinds of people, experience different cultures and ways of life, and learn very quickly that there is a much bigger world outside your own little bubble.

I’ve collected a fair few stories along the way.

Some of them are even suitable for publication.

I was a huge daydreamer

Long before Mistress Sin had a name, I had a very active imagination.

As a teenager, I was a huge daydreamer. I spent a lot of time imagining different versions of myself, different kinds of power and different ways of moving through the world. Even then, I was fascinated by the idea of presence, control and the effect one person could have on another.

I also discovered my Dominance surprisingly early.

Before I had begun any sexual relationships, I was already exploring what power and authority meant to me. I was still a virgin, but that fact was never the defining feature of my imagination or my identity. I was curious about Dominance in its own right, and I began experimenting with bondage in a private, exploratory way before sex had entered my life.

It wasn’t about trying to be provocative. It was about discovering something that felt instinctively mine.

I was learning how to use the confidence and power of becoming a young woman to my advantage, and beginning to understand that femininity could be something active, deliberate and powerful rather than something merely observed by other people.

Looking back, I can see that Mistress Sin didn’t appear from nowhere.

She was already there, quietly taking shape in the imagination of a very determined daydreamer.

I was an assistant embalmer

Yes. Really.

And I loved it!

Before my professional life took the turn you might be more familiar with, there was a period when I worked as an assistant embalmer.

Death and the dead fascinate me. If anything, being around death gives you a rather different perspective on being alive.

It was only a brief period of my life, but the work was fascinating, occasionally surreal and probably explains why it takes quite a lot to shock me.

I have never been a 'conventional job' kind of person. The nine-to-five rat race has never made sense to me. Conventional is stifling to my very soul.

Although, admittedly, “former assistant embalmer turned professional Dominatrix” isn’t your standard career trajectory.

My first fetish-shop job involved hiding my crutches around the corner

One of the pivotal moments that eventually led me towards this world happened years later in Soho.

I had recently undergone major surgery for bone cancer and was still using crutches.

One Friday, I was in Soho with a friend when I spotted a sign in the window of a fetish shop advertising for staff.

I wanted that job.

There was, however, the slight matter of the crutches.

For reasons that made perfect sense to me at the time, I decided that marching into a fetish shop asking for employment while visibly recovering from major surgery might not present quite the image I was going for.

So I made my friend stand around the corner holding my crutches.

I then walked into the shop unaided, doing my very best impression of somebody whose pelvis had definitely not recently been operated on, and asked about the job.

They hired me.

And asked me to start on Monday.

Excellent news, apart from the fact that I now had approximately one weekend to make my performance a reality.

So I spent that weekend practising walking without my crutches.

By Monday, the crutches were gone.

Looking back, there is something rather fitting about the whole ridiculous episode.

I saw a door into a world that fascinated me, decided I was going through it, and dealt with the practicalities afterwards.

And, in one form or another, I’ve been doing that ever since.

There is a lot more to Mistress Sin than a strict persona

People sometimes imagine that a Dominatrix simply wakes up one morning, buys some latex and decides to start ordering men around.

The reality, certainly in my case, is considerably more interesting.

There were experiences, places, strange jobs, difficult chapters, extraordinary people and a natural fascination with Dominance long before Mistress Sin of London existed professionally.

They all became part of her.

And there are plenty more stories where these came from.

Some funny. Some strange. Some dark. And some that I’m still deciding whether I can get away with publishing.
